The ongoing adventure of Laia Anne Chiment Scimeca on-goes (during September and October)! The standard "why I'm not a bells and whistles website" disclaimer (I have no time cause I work at Olin Library 25 hours a week and we're winterizing the house the rest of the time, I'm not getting any hard-core coffee, and sleep? What is this sleep you speak of?) still applies, so please be kind!

Sittin' on the couch with odin...wondering why everything looks so funny. ![]()
Perhaps the correct response is to swoon? Laia recently discovered the "baby in the mirror". She's not too sure who that baby is, but she would really like to be friends!
Sweet Potato is a favorite smooshable in the Chiment-Scimeca household. Garunteed to get an enthusiastic (and very messy) "thumbs up" from the tiniest food critic on the block. At least sweet potato is a glorious orange color...it makes finding the bits and pieces thrown about the floor so much easier!

Though the mess making potential of sweet potato is nothing in the face of OATMEAL THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, DESTROYER OF ORDER, SQUISHY MASTER OF REASON AND CHAOS!!!
At least it's good for the skin! Now about the floor, rug, shirt, hair, cats...
Sometimes you just have to give in to cuteness...no matter if it's a scrunchy elf face peeking over daddy's thumb or a Mona Lisa baby smile.
We gave in to temptation and got Laia a baby walker. Yes, they are dangerous (but we only us it on the first floor, and she's limited to sections of the living room not covered with rugs, so we're really talking just back and forth in front of the couch) and yes, they can delay walking independently (but she's already standing more or less on her own so we're not too concerned about that). But she loves her little war chariot sooooooooo much, what can we do?
These pictures reflect the first time Laia has been willing to keep a binky in her mouth for more than a few seconds. Ever since birth she's just popped them right back out as soon as someone dared place one in her mouth (a child who knew what she wanted!). Just in the last few weeks though she has agreed to keep a pacifier around...not to suck on, oh no, but to chomp down on and chew. Ouch!
A chicken for every pot, a toy for every hand!
Plotting her next line of attack...where is that toy?Halloween is upon us and Ithaca is awash in pumpkins. Laia, once known as "punkin'", is now mistress of her own squashy kingdom. Here we are at Chris and Erica's house preparing to carve a few pumpkins...
